IMMERSION 2022: Diverse Generation, Encourage Together
The Immersion activity, which is held annually by the Information Systems Student Association or HIMSISFO is one of the attractions for Binusians, especially School of Information Systems students, in gaining new insights on an international scale. Immersion 2022 has been held for 4 days and 3 nights on 13 – 16 December 2022 in Singapore. With the theme Divergent or Diverse Generation, Encourage Together gives the meaning that we as generation Z must encourage one another to continue to adapt and develop ourselves against all changes. especially in the digital era like today. By adopting, we are expected to be able to deal with the problems of differences around us to advance our generation with enthusiasm and increase tolerance for diversity.
University Visit, National University of Singapore (NUS)
At the National University of Singapore, we were greeted by an employee from the technology research field, Ms. Katherine Fennedy. In addition, there are 4 selected students from the National University of Singapore to give their research presentations on highly sophisticated technologies, such as Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality. They presented lots of ideas, from Learning about smart glasses while walking, Pupillometry Computing to how to remotely control drones using Augmented Reality. We are also given the opportunity to try the results of the technology prototype.
University Visit, Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)
When we arrived at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, we were led by officers from SUSS to go to the presentation room. The presentation began with an introduction to the history, vision, and mission of the Singapore University of Social Sciences. Next, it is continued with an explanation of the education available at SUSS as well as the suitable majors and studies if taking a Master’s degree there.
Company Visit, Land Transport Authority (LTA)
In the Land Transport Authority, we tour the Singapore Mobility Gallery. The Singapore Mobility Gallery showcases how LTA plans and builds its transport. We can also conduct experiments to experience the system in LTA running through Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) experience activities.
Alumnae Sharing
Our lecturers, Ms. Hany Juwitasary and Mr. Sugianto Hartono helped us contact some alumnae from BINUS University who live in Singapore, Mr. Effendy Lesmana. He is a BINUS alumna who is now famous for his stage name, “Youtuber Cupu”. Mr. Effendy Lesmana shared about their work experience from the first time he got a job to becoming a YouTuber. Not only that, he also shared his experience about their work life in Singapore, their work experience, lifestyle, and other things. Mr. Effendy Lesmana is still carrying out his job as a successful YouTuber.
Tourist attractions
Apart from our main destinations above, we also visited several tourist attractions, such as Garden by The Bay, Marina Bay Sands The Shoppes, Sentosa Island, Vivo City, Orchard Road, and Chinatown.
