THE ASIAN TASTE
Culture Share is an event where boarders gather, show their culture, and have fun together, including the international ones. The latest Culture Share had food festival, in which the dish was provided by four stands of boarders representing their own countries, which were Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia. Together they cooked their own signature food and served boarders, creating such a refreshing and positive environment to be enjoyed, especially for boarders who had just gotten home from college. There was also a drink stand to freshen up the throat and body while gathering up with friends.
Starting with the Japanese, they served Japanese Curry. Combining the chicken, carrot, onion, and potato, along with the curry sauce, they had created a complete curry. Finally, they added the rice and voila, the curry is ready to be served. Meanwhile, the Korean made Kimchi Bokkeumbap, kimchi-based fried rice. They cooked the rice and then added tuna and egg in it, resulting in a tasteful Korean dish. For the final touch, they put chopped welsh onion on the top of it. As for the Thai, they cooked a signature Thai dish called Pad Ga Prao, which means stir-fried chicken with basil leaves. First, they cooked the garlic and chilies. Then, the Thai added chicken to be stir-fried. They also put in the fish sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and, basil leaves, to perfect the taste of the chicken. Lastly, they put it alongside white rice and served it. Next one, the Indonesian served a dessert, which was Banana Nugget. They cut the banana and then cover it with the mixture of egg, flour, and bread crumbs. After perfectly covered, they put it into the oil to be deeply fried. After that, they put it on the serving bowl and added toppings, such as chocolate sauce and grated cheese to increase the delicateness of the servings. Last, but not least, the drink stand served orange juice full of Vitamin C.
To summarize, the stands truly had a big part in the event. The queue for every stand never stopped and the intense cooking just made the situation even more and more interesting. The boarders were happy and satisfied with the deliciousness of the food and freshness of the drinks, thus making the big success out of the very event itself. All these were able to be made a reality thanks to PDC for their support and to the hard work of the committee.
