Event Review BSSC SHINE 2024 “Pancasila Unity and Teamwork Challenge”

BSSC SHINE 2024 is a community service event organized by the 14th Presidency of BSSC aimed at enhancing the social skills of BINUS Square boarders and benefiting others through charitable activities and community service initiatives. The theme chosen for BSSC SHINE 2024 is “Pancasila Unity and Teamwork Challenge”. BSSC, along with volunteers, conducted social activities at Panti Sosial Asuhan Kampung Melayu on Saturday, June 8, 2024. They organized several activities for children, such as group sports challenges and collaborative drawing of Pancasila icons. Additionally, BSSC and the volunteers provided donations in the form of cash and goods for the children in the social welfare orphanage. These donations aim to support the children’s educational activities in schools and were obtained from contributions made by dormitory residents earlier.

The first activity we conducted with the children was a group learning session. During this session, we provided knowledge like a brief education session about Pancasila. In addition to the teaching session, we also held a Q&A session to keep the children engaged and enthusiastic throughout the day’s activities. If the children were able to answer our questions, they would receive candy as a reward. This group learning session went very smoothly and greatly boosted the children’s spirits. They were enthusiastic about answering every question posed by us. The purpose of this group learning session was to ensure that the children understood about Pancasila, including its fifth principles, the meaning of the Garuda, and the symbols of Pancasila.

Next, we gave the opportunity for welcoming remarks from the Leo Club Jakarta Victory Legacy, who supported this event. Following this, we put the children into some small groups for the collaborative creativity session, where the children would engage in drawing and painting together using A2-size paper and acrylic paint. For this creative activity, they would draw pictures related to the theme, which is Pancasila. Not only did the children participate in the drawing and coloring, but the volunteers also joined and helped them. This collaborative creativity session allowed the children to create together and express their imaginative drawing ideas.

After drawing and coloring together, all groups presented their work at the front and showcase the results of their group collaboration. During the presentation, they could be assisted by one of the volunteers accompanying their group. In their presentation, they explained the meaning behind the picture they created. The purpose of this presentation was to help the children gain greater self-confidence and to practice good public speaking skills.

After the collaborative creativity session, we organized a game session. We conducted two games. The first game, called “Shoot your Shot,” involved the children throwing ping pong balls into cups with a little water inside to hold the cup in place.

The second game, called “Ping Pong Relay,” involved rolling a ball on top of a pipe and channeling it into a cup filled with water. The purpose of these games was to train the children’s focus and to promote teamwork among the children in every group.

Towards the end of the event, we announced the winner of the collaborative creativity session and the winner of the games that had been held. The winning teams got a prize of a party-pack size snack, which had been prepared beforehand, to share with the other kids.

After the awarding session, the event ended with a donation in the form of basic necessities such as rice, oil, instant noodles and other additional snacks and mineral water. a gratitude plaque to the orphanage. We also gave a gratitude plaque to Leo Club Jakarta Victory Legacy, who has supported our event, BSSC SHINE 2024. With this, BSSC SHINE 2024 “Pancasila Unity and Teamwork Challenge” went smoothly and concluded on a pleasant note.
