Event Review BSSC Seminar 2024: “Success In (You)th”
BSSC Seminar 2024: “Success In (You)th” is one of the national events organized by the 14th Presidency of BSSC. The event carries the theme “Success In (You)th,” which implies that success can start from within at a young age, with careful preparation as early as possible. This event was held both onsite at the Oak Room, BINUS Square Hall Residence, and online via ZOOM Meeting on September 13, 2024, hosted by the MC, Halwa Sa’ima Putri Lakia, with the aim of providing knowledge about business and opening up business opportunities.
Before the event began, there was a prayer session aimed at ensuring that the seminar would run smoothly without any obstacles disrupting the event. In this event, BSSC had the opportunity to invite the speaker, Randy Julius Kartadinata, who is a co-founder of a business he started in 2019, Mangkokku Indonesia, a rice bowl business offering authentic Indonesian flavors that has gained popularity across various demographics. Randy Julius Kartadinata owns several F&B businesses, including the GIOI Group with its various restaurants.
During his session, he presented important concepts, steps, and strategies that can help achieve success at a young age, including how to find and validate your business idea. He explained the goals of a business, potential problems that may arise, solutions to these problems, competitors in business, branding and product development, pricing, market size, how to conduct research and development for business products, and an exit plan as an alternative in case the business fails. He emphasized the importance of having a backup plan to avoid lingering in failure and urged young entrepreneurs to prepare thoroughly before starting a business.
After the speaker finished presenting the material, the MC conducted an ice-breaking activity with all participants to help them stay focused while listening to the speaker. The MC did this by playing an antonym game, where if the MC said “raise your right hand or foot,” the participants had to raise their left hand or foot instead.
The event then continued with a talk show, moderated by Halwa Sa’ima Putri Lakia, discussing his current business ventures beyond Mangkokku, he also explained how to make a new business idea widely recognized, which is by having a product that is delicious and of high quality. People will continue to buy it regardless of whether the food goes viral on social media or not. According to him, viral food will only be popular for a short time if it does not focus on good taste and quality, and does not meet the needs of the buyers. His principle is that value can both unite and separate us. If you build a business with a partner who has different values, the business will fail. Therefore, if you want to build a business with a partner, the values you hold must be the same, as well as having a shared vision and mission. He mentioned that creating a value proposition is very important in business to maintain quality, food standards, and business consistency. To evaluate a food business, we need to conduct surveys to gather feedback from customers and implement that feedback to improve the quality of the business. The talk show was followed by a Q&A session where both onsite and online participants could ask questions directly. Three participants with the best questions were awarded exclusive books authored by Randy Julius Kartadinata and had the opportunity to take photos with him.
There was also a quiz session designed to test the participants’ understanding of the material using the Quizizz app. The quiz was lively and fun, guided by the MC. This quiz contained several questions related to the material presented by the speaker and was designed to assess how well the participants understood the business content, and the top three winners received E-Wallet prizes.
Finally, the event concluded with the presentation of a certificate and plaque from Teddy Anantama Wijaya, the Head of the event, to Randy Julius Kartadinata, as a token of appreciation for sharing his knowledge and experiences, and with group photos involving the participants, the organizing committee, and the MC. The event ended with a prayer session.
