During COVID-19 Pandemic, in March 2020 Indonesia implemented and issued a policy to enact it (PSSB). This PSSB requires every Indonesian citizen to keep a distance or better known as physical distancing and all activities are carried out at home, even work and study from home. Which applies until now where we are familiar with (New Normal). New normal is a change in behavior to continue to carry out normal activities but by adding a health protocol to prevent COVID-19 transmission.
Because the application of PSSB and New Normal makes many of the Indonesian people feel bored and feel uneasy because they are accustomed to doing activities outside the home, in addition to leaving the house they are also afraid of being infected. Therefore WHO through his director-general suggested playing games in the middle of the Pandemic COVID-19, previously WHO had mentioned that playing games can bring adverse effects because it can cause addiction and mental damage, but after researching the Universities of Rochester and Washington, playing games also bring good impact. Through the game, we can be more motivated to stay at home, reduce the sense of boredom, and can break the chain of spread of COVID -19.
Results of research from the Universities of Rochester and Washington:
Based on research conducted by the University of Rochester three visual capacities can be improved by playing action games. There are 3 things, the first is visual attention, the ability to receive greater information. Second is the spatial distribution, the ability to analyze the surroundings. Last is temporal resolution, the ability to remember the same object
Based on research conducted by the University of Washington. There are several things we can get from research related to online games made by the University of Washington. Last but not least, that we can get from playing games is improving intelligence and brain health based on PLOS ONE research. People who play games for 1 hour every day are smarter than people who don’t play games and based on the journal Molecular Psychiatry.
