Learning The Intricate Culture of Japan

BSSC is the only organization in BINUS Square that provide boarders with various events and activities. One of the activities held by BSSC OSR Culture Division is Japanese Language Class. Japanese culture attracts a lot of Indonesian people. This can be seen from the various Japanese restaurants that we often encounter, Japanese comics that can be found in bookstores, anime tapes, etc. Not only that, cosplay competitions are also often held in various places.

Japanese Class was taught by 3 teachers named Mayuko Ishikawa, Araki Michiru and Ken Tsukamoto. All of them are from Japan. They are originally students from Ritusmeikan Asia Pacific University and is in an exchange student program with BINUS. Japanese class had 5 classroom meetings and 1 session for them to hang out together. The meetings discussed about basic conversation in Japanese Language, which were the usage of Hiragana Letters and Katakana Letters. Not only that, the teachers also taught the participants traditional Japanese games through direct practice so that the learning activity becomes exciting and interesting.

The response of participants who participate the Japanese class is quite good, this can be seen from the attendance of participants who come every week. The teachers also prepared useful learning materials for the participants. With this Japanese class, the participants are expected to get more insight into the country of Japan. Not only the participant, the teachers will also gain teaching experience and public speaking that are useful in the future. For the next Japanese class, it is expected to grow even better.
