Travelling Asia in a Night

On December 8th, 2017, we held Culture Share for exchange students to share their signature food from their representative country in BINUS square. On this event, there were food stands from the exchange students themselves, a drink stand, a photo booth, performances, door prizes, piñata and fortune telling. This event was held to provide boarders the chance to taste 4 different food from various countries across Asia. Besides that, Culture share was also held to deepen the relationship between boarders (local and international ones) and improve their networking skills.

The food festival, performances, karaoke, and photo booth were held in Exhibition Area, as for fortune telling was held in Oak Room. Cooking volunteers were the exchange students from Japan, Korea, Thailand, and Indonesia. Later, participants will pick the best food they like and vote it on the voting box, that will be used as door prize coupon. We also had fortune telling that used tarot and playing cards. Each participant who wished to try the signature food from one of the countries mentioned above were charged Rp10.000,- and as for drinks, it costed Rp3.000,-. We also provide a bundle pack for those who want to try all foods for Rp35.000,-, including a free drink and a door prize ticket. For those who wished to get their fortune revealed, they can purchase the ticket for Rp5000,-. The Exhibition Area was very crowded. Boarders who was interested to know more about what other country foods taste like kept coming. It was absolutely full of people, the situation was very festive and joyful. Performances from boarders, including exchange student from Holland, enlivened the mood by her singing in Exhibition Area. As for fortune telling, it was a big hit that can be seen from the number of participants, and it was the first fortune telling ever held in BINUS Square.

To sum up, the event was a big success. The food that all representative countries served were all sold out and the voting brought Thailand as the winner of the best food chosen by participants. Likewise, we would like to thank PDC due to their support on our event and also to the volunteers who had liven up the atmosphere into an exciting and fun event.
