Welcoming Party Sparks New Members Journey to become Extraordinary
The BINUS English Club is a student organization from BINUS University, established on June 11, 1992. The purpose of this establishment is to develop the students’ potentials in an effort to enhance both their hard and soft skills. BNEC has supported students to improve their proficiency in English through various enriching programs continuously, since it is one of the important skill sets needed later in life to overcome challenges faced in the workspace.
Among the key events BNEC offers to help new students kick off this journey is the Welcoming Party. This promising event introduces new members into the great community of BNEC and offers fun in a dynamic environment as a starting point for developing the essential skills for their academic and professional futures. It will help consolidate the relationship between new students, especially among the members in BNEC.
The theme for this year’s Welcoming Party is “Start Your Journey, Start Your Extraordinary! “. Under this theme, BNEC wishes to inspire new members to bring enthusiasm and ambition for this new journey in life. The journey ahead is not only to move forward but to break through the limits, unlock new possibilities, and strive to become truly extraordinary. Hopefully, the Welcome Party will be a great jump start for every new member’s grand adventure that is all about growth, learning, and pursuit of excellence.
The event activity program was an array of interesting activities meant to inspire, connect, and inform. It started with a speaker session where participants were informed about what they were going to expect and were given some advice on how to handle their journey in BNEC by a Guest Speaker, the General Secretary of BNEC, Gladys Callista Yacintaman.
After this, exciting activities drew even more connections among the participants together in the session game. They were further divided into small groups that competed with each other through the two interactive engagement activities: Virtual Escape Room and Human Bingo. In the Virtual Escape Room, each group problem-solved to crack puzzles and issues; this often needed collaboration, creativity, and rapid thinking. This is one of those amusing challenges about teamwork-participants needed others’ strengths to thrive. The second game, Human Bingo, was structured to establish a deeper connection among team members. Since it had more focus on the relationship-building aspect, this interactive game called upon participants to learn fun facts about their peers so that bonding and getting to know fellow BNEC members would be more personal.
These games stirred up friendly competition but laid the foundation for good friendships and team spirit. There was also a sharing session on the event when new members could express their feelings and thoughts about this Welcoming Party. Most of the participants shared that they really enjoyed all of the activities and appreciated the opportunity to meet people with similar views. This open discussion allowed everybody to introspect into the event by sharing moments and sessions they felt were most enjoyable. At the same time, this gave an avenue to share with the participants whether it was the excitement of the games or the relationships built within the day, and this further instilled a deeper sense of community and friendship fostered by BNEC.
At the closing of the event, the door prize session handed out three special prizes to the lucky participants. Later, a documentation session captured the highlights of the day to ensure that the best moments of such a rare occasion were recorded. At the end, upcoming BNEC events were announced for all regions, plus other major opportunities to be looked out for, which included the highly expected Member and Board of Management recruitment. With this Welcome Party, BNEC has given the cue for its new generation of members to begin on a journey that is extra special: they are not only going to grow in skills but also make connections within this supportive community.
