Why Elden Ring ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ Is A Must-Play DLC

Scadutree, the tree that looms the world of the shadows.

Elden Ring has been considered to be one of the greatest games there ever was, with multiple awards to back up this claim. Recently, FromSoftware Inc., the creator of Elden Ring, has released a new downloadable content (DLC) for this game called “Shadow of the Erdtree”, and let me tell you gamers out there, it’s worth dying for. Why, and for what reasons? Let’s find out!

Unlike other video games’ DLCs, which usually just gives you a couple of weapon skins or a new unlockable character, “Shadow of the Erdtree” is different. This DLC unlocks a massive amount of items, spells, consumables, and many more, that in return, unlocks many different types of builds that are previously overshadowed by a stronger build. For example the “Thorn Sorcerer” build that has become really viable because of the “Impenetrable Thorn” spell that the DLC provided.

Bosses

“Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame”, one of the bosses in the DLC

Have you been feeling that the bosses in the “Lands Between” are starting to feel a little dull and easy? Well, this DLC introduces you to many unique bosses with top-of-the-line designs, ranging from demigods, monsters, dragons, and many more, that will make even the most experienced player struggle.

Exploration

A view of the location called “Cerulean Coast”

As if exploring the vast locations and dungeons in the “Lands Between” were not enough, the DLC allows you to explore a place called the “Land of Shadow” where there are many beautiful places like the Cerulean Coast. Or, if you’re a daring person, explore the vertical dungeon of the “Shadow Keep”. The choice is ultimately yours.

Lores

The original game of Elden Ring leaves many questions unanswered, such as who is Melina? Why does Radahn and Malenia Fight? Who injured the dragon lord Placidusax? and many more. All of these questions are explained in the DLC through various NPC dialogues, item descriptions, and even spell descriptions. So if you want your answers, now’s the time to delve deep into the “Land of Shadow”.

Conclusion

The amount of content that you are getting from this DLC, combined with its unique bosses and vast places that you can explore, makes this DLC into a game of its own. It’s almost as if this is a sequel to the original game that explains every question that is asked before. With that being said, I can assure you that “Shadow of the Erdtree” is a DLC worth playing.
