UNIQUE CULTURE IN BRITISH
Undoubtedly, each nation has its own culture. Of course, each country’s culture is unique and contributes to its uniqueness. Additionally, a lot of people typically want to learn about the local cultures in order to broaden their knowledge. For instance, there are many cultures or social mores in Britain that pique curiosity and inspire a desire to learn more. Following are a few of the cultures present in Britain:
- Mayor of High Wycombe
People in Britain typically celebrate the Mayor of High Wycombe’s distinctive culture during the mayoral election. Every year, the mayor would have to weigh himself; previously, if an official gained weight, they would be penalized or made fun of.
- World Gurning Championship
A very unusual competition is the World Gurning Championship. Whereas typically British citizens who participate in this competition are asked to make an odd face, which is then preserved as a memento.
- Morris Dancing
Another very distinctive style of dancing is Morris dancing. On their shins, dancers will wear bell bearings. Since 1448, this dance has its roots in London, and it features musical accompaniment at various points.
- Wife Carrying
There will be a competition to carry the wife over a 300-meter distance in this unusual wife carrying tradition. Since 2008, there has been a competition. The wife needs to be weighed before the match even starts.
- Bog Snorkeling Championship
Bog snorkeling is a demanding sport because competitors must swim through a peat swampy body of water. These events and sports now take place annually in Britain.
