LAND YOUR NEW JOB WITH THE BEST RESUME KEYWORDS

What are Resume Keywords?

When applying for a job, you need to be more specific about the words or phrases you use in your resume to describe the job requirements. Words or phrases that you use are the resume keywords that reflect your skills and experience as a potential candidate. It can help you pass the automated applicant tracking system (ATS) and then be reviewed by the recruiter.

Sometimes your application might get thrown out if the software does not detect the keywords. How the ATS works is to eliminate resumes that do not have specific keywords. So, putting the best and most effective resume keywords in your resume will show that you fit the position’s requirements. Combining keywords that consist of job-related nouns and action verbs that demonstrate what you have achieved in past experiences is needed to make a good resume keyword.

How to Pick the Best Resume Keywords

Here are how you pick the keywords that relate to your specific position or industry:

  •  Analyze Job Posts

Start by reviewing the job post and note the resume keywords that will match it. Often the information about the mission and job’s responsibilities are included in the online job posting. It typically uses industry-specific words and phrases, and you can use them for your resume. For example, a job posting about a senior architect position might mention phrases like “senior architect,” “construction drawings,” and “3D models.”

  • Examine The Company’s Website

You can find valuable sources of keywords that relate to the industry and the company’s specific focus through the website because it provides keywords that reflect their values and brand. You can use those keywords that you find as long as they fit your values to show that you are a good fit for the company.

  •  Examine The Professional Organization Websites

Try to visit the website of a professional organization to find some keywords in a specific industry for your resume. For example, suppose you are applying for a software developer job. In that case, you might consider checking a related website to learn about software design, frameworks, and many more. Then you use it to find common keywords for your resume because these organizations often publish blogs and other free online resources, which might be full of industry-specific keywords.

Why Are Resume Keywords So Important?

Here are the reasons:

  •  Pass The ATS Selection. As was mentioned above, ATS work is to eliminate resumes that do not have specific keywords. So, with resume keywords, your application will be considered.
  • Describe Your Skills to Get a Higher Ranking and More Chances for an Interview. Keywords are concise ways to describe a particular skill and experience. So, take your time to make your resume according to the job description with the specific resume keywords. A recruiter might consider your resume in the first place because ATS will sort applicants based on how their resumes match the job description.
  • Show The Most Important Information. Your resume will be shorter and more focused because the use of keywords will make you cut the career facts that do not match.

Based on what has been explained earlier, creating a resume with the best resume keywords will increase your chances of landing the job. So always research resume keywords that match the position you are applying for and don’t underestimate it. Good luck in landing a job!
