5 TIPS TO SPEED UP LEARNING PROCESS FOR SLOW LEARNERS

Slow learners are those whose learning abilities develop much slower than others. Do you know that Thomas Edison and Albert Einstein got a slow learner tag in their childhood because of their poor retention and inability to cope with academics? But today, we are amazed by their genius contributions.

We all have strengths and weaknesses when it comes to learning new things. How people learn is not the same because they have their own ways and different paces. Sometimes we feel mental blocks when learning certain subjects, which means we are not excelling in everything. Slow learners’ problem is about their learning concepts and achieving developmental milestones at a slower pace.

Don’t worry if you are a slow learner because we have some tips to speed up your study.

  1.  Play to Your Strength

First, you need to know your specific learning skills. You can take a self-assessment because it’s important to learn quickly and avoid things that make you slow to learn something. For example, if you feel it is easier to understand visuals, you need to search for learning materials that include images or diagrams because you’ll benefit from them. So that’s why you need to maximize your strengths or play to your strengths.

  1. Remove Distractions

You can remove distractions by finding a quiet spot or putting gadgets that you don’t need away. Sometimes extraneous noises and technology overload can distract you when trying to learn something.

  1. Ask Questions

The best way to clarify what you’ve been taught is don’t be afraid to ask questions, especially when you are struggling to understand something. It’s beneficial because sometimes it can slow you, when you do not clarify what you’ve been taught, and asking a question is good for building confidence.

  1. Don’t Be Afraid of Mistakes

Making mistakes is a common thing, especially when learning something. You don’t need to be worried about it. To learn something, you need to take risks. If you are afraid of being wrong, it will hinder you from learning something. When making mistakes, instead of being ashamed, it is better to accept them because from it, you can learn to be better.

  1. Goals Settings

It would be best if you avoid bad habits of procrastination with weekly or even daily goals. It will encourage you to work steadily towards them daily, motivate you, and make you more productive. But remember not to compare, label, and get frustrated when you don’t meet your goals. You need more time, attention, and guidance than others.

Those are some tips that you can apply. If you’re asking if slow learners can change, the answer is yes! You just need guidance and support because the human brain can rewire itself as we age. So, the most important thing is that being successful is the main goal, don’t let unimportant things bother you. Good Luck!
