BNEC SOCIAL EVENT 2020 – FOR THEM, YOU, AND ME

The corona pandemic has devastated many lives. Because of this, Bina Nusantara English Club (BNEC) has once again hosted its annual Social Event with the theme “For Them, You, and Me”. This event is the organization’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which act in hopes of alleviating current social issues that is still rampaging the country. This year’s theme aims to give aid to those struck by misfortune in these trying times, specifically orphanages, while also providing a platform for people who wish to be tutored in English.

It is difficult now for orphanages to both follow the new anti-corona protocols enacted while also supporting their children with how arduous it is to find donors. In addition to that, being able to understand English is steadily growing into more of a need than simply a want in the professional world. BNEC has thus created this event with the aforementioned theme to combine both issue and give back to the community.

Registrations were opened as early as August, with the registration fee being completely voluntary so participants will be able to donate as much as they wished to. There was a total of eight classes, starting from the 8th of September to the 3rd of October 2020. With topics ranging from all the different theoretical aspects of learning the English language: Present Tense, Past Tense, Future Tense, Conditional Sentences, Adjectives & Preposition, Noun & Passive Tenses, Vocabulary, and TOEFL Tips & Tricks.

All the funds gained through this event is fully allocated to Karena Kasih Orphanage in Sunter and Kasih Anugerah Orphanage in Tegal Alur, which were both heavily impacted by the pandemic. Basic necessities such as food, clothes, and other daily materials were bought and delivered by BNEC’s representatives after the tutoring portion of the event was concluded. It is safe to say that, by the end, everyone who has helped and contributed to this event can be called a hero.
