BNEC NEW MEMBER RECRUITMENT & WELCOMING PARTY 2020 : DARE TO BE EXTRAORDINARY

July – September at Binus is an orientation period for new students which is divided into several week. At that time, all organizations in Binus did the process of admitting new members, one of which was BNEC (Bina Nusantara English Club). In every new member acceptance, we have a different theme every year. This year our theme is “BELIEVE”; Be Extraordinary Learn in Every Experience. This theme was taken with hope that new BNEC members can become extraordinary from every experience and also hope that all BNEC members can learn from each other to become extraordinary individuals.

All of the organization’s new member recruitment is done via online either zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meets. New member recruitment of all organizations in Binus is carried out by UKM Expo which is divided into several schedules each week. Expo for BNEC is held every Saturday at 10.00. We have a different expo concept for each week. The concept is such as talk shows, presentations, sharing and exhibitions. Why did we choose to provide a different concept? Because we want to give our prospective members something special for each week, we want to give a different impression at every expo. At the beginning of the expo, the participants were very few. However, the number of participants increased from week to week and some even participated in our expo more than once.

To attract the attention of prospective BNEC members, we not only held an expo but we also held a counseling class. Where in the counseling class we discuss more deeply about BNEC. Because in the expo, we only discussed BNEC in general and were not complete. Therefore, we also held a counseling class to sharing about BNEC in more detail with our prospective members. We also hold this counseling class every week, on Thursday. As long as the counseling class is running, we have already gotten several members to register. Until the end of the expo and even after the orientation was finished, the number of our new members was still growing.

After the new member recuritment process ended, BNEC held a welcoming party for all new members. This year’s welcoming party was organized by 3 BNEC regions (Alam Sutera, Kemanggisan and Bekasi) with the theme Dare to be Extraordinary. The BNEC welcoming party will be held on Saturday September 12, 2020. Even though via online, we are trying to create an interesting welcoming party concept. In this year’s welcoming party, there are several series of activities. Starting with a seminar by one of the BNEC alumni, Elizabeth Charlotte Widjojo. The material presented is in accordance with the theme of the welcoming party. After the seminar, there was ice breaking which was continued with the core games. In this core game, participants were divided into groups and they had to complete several games to complete the mission.

Mission? Yes, because they had to finish the games, find clues and guess the place where one of the NMR Project Managers was kidnapped. The games they have to complete are Guess the Gibberish, Guess the Picture and Guess the Lips. All Games are carried out in a zoom breakout room. The first group to guess the location where the project manager was kidnapped is the winner. After the core games are finished, there is another game from our sponsor, Bantex. Then there was the sharing session and after that the closing of the welcoming party event.

Welcoming party is the closing ceremony of every organization in new member recuritment, one of which is the BNEC organization. Even though all the NMR series this year were conducted online, we are still trying to give our best for our new members. We still have great enthusiasm to welcome them to be part of the BNEC organization.
