BE A GOLDEN MILLENNIAL

The term ‘millennial generation’ is quite familiar now. This term was first coined in several books by two historians and also American writers William Strauss and Neil Howe. In determining this one generation group, there is no specific demographic, but at first this generation was formed for those born in 1990 and also in early 2000, and so on.

This generation was born in an era of technological and internet sophistication which played a major role in their survival. Millennials prefer to get informations from their cell phones by searching for it on Google, which is always up-to-date with the surrounding situation. In fact, those who are born in this age would prefer to use sophisticated technology such as cell phones or laptops. Therefore, it is undeniable that the more advanced the technology is emerging, the more different kinds of social media is used such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Line.

But do you know that this can give a negative impact? Many hateful people expect more from this sophisticated technology such as spreading hoaxes that incite the public to fall in the wrong direction. Aside from the misuse of technology, many children become negligent to adults because they are too attached with the technology and end up wasting a lot of time. We must avoid the misuse of technology for personal and other interests as a millennial generation.

In fact, the existence of sophisticated technology should provide many benefits in the present age, especially for its generation. We need to be wise and careful in using technology and social media. Preferably, before spreading news that is not yet true, we must first check which is wrong and which is right. Millennials have a lot of opportunities because millennial is a creative generation with lots of ideas, that we can even use social media as an opportunity for work such as becoming content creators, content writers, etc. In addition, millennials are expected to instill character education with the development of modern technology so that they can compete and not be easily influenced by the outside world.

Last, millennial generation must be able to influence changes in the dynamics of people’s lives in a structured and constructive manner, which means that we enter normative values so that millennials can keep up with the times in accordance with the corridors, not in a negative direction.
