The 2025 NEO: A Challenge to Grow

The National English Olympics (NEO) is a national-scale English competition held annually by BINUS English Club (BNEC). This competition is designed for English language enthusiasts and talents to showcase their skills and develop their ability.

With the theme “Farewell, Neverland: Step Beyond the Horizon,” this year’s NEO challenges everyone to leave the safe and comfort place and look for growth in the unfamiliar places. The 2025 NEO was held online on January 26 and 28, 2026, with 2 competition fields: speech and essay writing.

The participants who registered showed great enthusiasm and performed remarkably. There were a total of 13 individuals who participated in this event, gathered from 8 different institutions all around Indonesia.

Another party who made this event great are the judges. The 2025 NEO invited multiple enthusiastic, talented, and experienced judges, in their own respective competition fields. The judge of the speech competition was Darren Hugo, who has many extraordinary achievements in the speech field, and the judge of the essay writing competition was Eva Lihotma Sipahutar, who has outstanding experiences in writing essays and being delegates.

On the 26th of January, the participants attended the Technical Meeting session. Here, the opening ceremony was also being carried out. After the technical meeting, the speech participants had a coaching clinic with the judge, in which they gained a lot of valuable knowledge from the judge about the speech competition. On the 28th, the competition day was being held. The event was then closed off with the closing ceremony to announce the winners. The winners were filled with pride and joy when their names were called upon.
