The Jakarta Post: One Step Ahead, Preparing For The Professional World – The 2025 BNEC Company Visit Recap

The 2025 BNEC Company Visit had successfully taken place on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at The Jakarta Post headquarters. With 24 participants, ranging from B29 to B25, the event filled with insightful and engaging activities, lasted from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM.

With the theme of ‘One Step Ahead: Preparing For The Professional World’, this year’s Company Visit aimed at helping its participants to gain firsthand knowledge and experience in entering the fast-paced work environment of today. Through this visit, participants were able to view the inner-workings of one of Indonesia’s leading media companies, allowing them to see firsthand how everything comes together behind the scenes.

The event began with a warm welcome from BNEC’s MC, followed by one given by The Jakarta Post team. After that, participants were given an insightful session by Deputy Editor of The Jakarta Post, Ivany Atina Arbi about the importance of media literacy in the digital age. Emphasizing the importance of verifying information and being media literate, the session was able to encourage a more critical mindset when browsing for information. Participants were also given insights into The Jakarta Post, and the production process of how it produces its content.

To make the learning experience even more engaging, the session was followed by a fun Kahoot game which tested the participant’s understanding of media literacy. This interactive session was followed by an awarding session, with the top 3 winners receiving a book for The Jakarta Post’s 25th anniversary!

After the thrilling game, the participants were divided into 4 groups, where the rolling batch session would begin. Here, 2 groups would participate in the editorial tour, while the other 2 groups would participate in the mock interview session simultaneously.

During the editorial tour, participants were guided to the newsroom, and got to experience firsthand how the news production process unfolds. By observing the office and meeting environment directly, participants were able to gain a real-life glimpse into how discussions are conducted, decisions are made, and organizational culture practiced within a professional setting.

Meanwhile, during the mock interview session, participants had the opportunity to step into a realistic interview setting. Selected participants would practice responding to commonly asked interview questions, learning how to refine their delivery and presentation. With constructive feedback received on the spot, participants would be able to gain valuable insights into expectations in the workplace to prepare for the professional world. After the first rolling batch was completed, the groups would switch activities, those that did the editorial tour would do the mock interview, and vice versa!

That wraps up our recap of The 2025 BNEC Company Visit to The Jakarta Post! For those of you who couldn’t join us this year, don’t worry there will be plenty more visits in the future.
