THE 2025 BNEC SOCIAL EVENT @Alam Sutera “Future Ready English: Let Your Voice Be Heard”
Every year, BNEC’s Social Event poses the same question: how can we make a positive impact on the community that people can feel? In 2025, our theme is “Future-Ready English: Let Your Voice Be Heard”. Through this program, we aim to help students find the courage to use English and carry that confidence into the classroom and ultimately, into the workplace.
We began with a seminar on “The Art of Listening” led by Mr. Hamzah Ramadhan, Lecturer at BINUS University. His message was quietly powerful: before we speak, we listen. Listening isn’t the opposite of speaking—it’s the foundation. It helps us notice who’s in front of us, choose words with care, and become a voice of clarity for others.
Then came five lively days at SMP YPPUI Ciledug, where 11 volunteers and Social Event Committee members poured their energy into the classrooms. We taught two classes at once, focusing on building confidence to deliver short speeches in English. The workshop is designed to boost students’ confidence in public speaking and equip them with practical, real-world English they can use right away in daily life and future careers.
The best part? The energy in the room. Volunteers were proactive and kind, while students were active and curious. Everyone joined the practice sessions, and a few small gifts from volunteers helped break the ice and encouraged even the quiet ones to give it a try. It reminded us that confidence grows fastest when people cheer each other on.
The week ended as all good things do, sooner than we wished. But we left with full hearts, grateful for the chance to meet, learn, and do something meaningful together. Huge thanks to the students, the school, and our amazing volunteers for their wholehearted contributions. It was truly extraordinary!
