The 2024 NEO: A Stage to Shine, Compete, and Grow

The awaited NEO is back! The National English Olympics (NEO) is a national-scale English competition held annually by BINUS English Club (BNEC). This competition is designed for English language enthusiasts and talents to showcase their skills, develop their ability, and make meaningful connections.

This year, the 2024 NEO took the theme “Eternal Voyage: Discover the New World!”, which emphasizes the never-ending journey of learning and discovery in life. The 2024 NEO, held in BINUS Alam Sutera on January 8–9, 2025, provided 4 competition fields: debate, speech, storytelling, and essay writing. The essay writing competition was held online, and the rest were held onsite.

The participation in this event was quite remarkable. There were a total of 69 individuals who participated in this event, gathered from 9 different provinces and 13 different cities all around Indonesia. 

Another party who made this event great are the judges. The 2024 NEO invited multiple enthusiastic, talented, and experienced judges, in their own respective competition fields. One of them was Vinay Ashok Tekani, who is a public speaking and debating coach, a grand finalist of Asian British Parliamentary 2023, and an EFL grand finalist of World University Debating Championship 2024.

On the day of the competition, both the participants and the judges gathered excitedly for the competition. There was a positive relation between the participants, committee, and the judges, in which they bonded and supported one another enthusiastically. On the final day, the closing ceremony was held to announce the winners and hold the event’s closing session. The auditorium was filled with the pride and joy of the winners when their names were called upon.
