WHY SHOULD WE LEARN ENGLISH?

The English language started as an Indo-European language belonging to the West Germanic language family. The modern English we use nowadays is commonly regarded as the world’s lingua franca and is used in various professions, including computer programming, international business, and higher education. By 2020, there were 1.27 billion English speakers on the planet. That makes the English Language places ahead of Mandarin Chinese (1.12 billion speakers) and Hindi as the most widely spoken language (637 million speakers). 

English is listed as an official language in more than 50 nations. There are also many English language types, such as British English, American and Canadian English, Australian and New Zealand English, South Asian English, and African English.

But, the topic we want to talk about is, why should we learn English?

  1. English is the International Language. English is the most widely spoken language globally. It is the official language of 53 nations and is spoken by over 400 million people worldwide. According to the British Council, two billion people worldwide will be studying English by 2020. Learning English is crucial because it allows you to converse freely with people worldwide.
  2. Most entertainment, Internet, and journal/scientific papers are available in English. The internet’s primary language currently is English. The prominence of Hollywood in global media makes a significant amount of films, TV shows, and popular songs are produced in English. Also, the number of scientific papers written in English has begun to outnumber those reported in the researcher’s native tongue. Knowing English allows you to access billions of pages of information without relying on translations.
  3. Learning English can improve your skill further. Learning a new language improves your analytical and cognitive ability, but It is also challenging and requires mental effort. According to a 2012 Swiss study, learning English modifies the brain architecture, affecting the areas of the brain responsible for memory, conscious thought, and creativity. Bilingualism can help keep the brain strong, healthy,  improve concentration and memory into old age and.

We all know that learning new things is difficult, but we have to believe that everything is possible if we put our mind in it. Learning English is critical because it delivers so many of the benefits mentioned above. You may improve your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills with various methods.
