BEST JOURNALIST OF ITB MODEL UNITED NATIONS
One of the skills possessed by a human is Verbal Linguistic which is characterized by the ability to use good language through speaking and writing. If you are already fluent in writing and speaking, it is easier for you to channel your idea through words and writing. People who are not confident in public speaking usually express their opinions through writing, therefore writing is one of the skillsets that all of us must hone.
In 2021, ITB Model United Nations (ITB MUN) again present for its 5th annual session which was designed to provide excellent academic quality and experience. ITB MUN had 2 councils which later developed into 4 councils in the second session. One of the contests that ITB held was journalist or press. A journalist’s task is to cover, write commentaries and articles about the issues discussed during the conference. One of the ITB MUN’s best journalists on 28 May 2021 was Nadia Joviani, who is an undergraduate student at Bina Nusantara University. In the interview that was held on 8th June 2021, Nadia said that she was assigned to cover different councils in each session, which are UN Women, World Bank, UNODC, and Crisis Committee. During the competition, there were four topics that she must finish within 3 hours for each topic. She said that several obstacles happened during the competition which were typographical errors and uncommon topics. Therefore, the important thing in this competition is to keep practicing.
There are several things that we can do to enhance our skills, one of them is to always read journals and news. Reading helps you find new words that will certainly help you improve your vocabulary as well as your writing skills. Finally, Nadia has some message for all of you who are reading this, keep practicing, and don’t be afraid to try.
