SIGCM 2025: Adapting to the Future, Embracing Innovation in Investment

SIGCM (Special Interest Group of Capital Market) is an annual event managed by students from HIMME (the Business and Management Student Association) of BINUS University. SIGCM 2025 was held on December 18th 2025, at BINUS Alam Sutera, featuring engaging speakers with professional experience in the capital market industry and interactive sessions in a hybrid format for all audiences. This event is designed as a comprehensive platform for in-depth discussions on capital markets, stocks, and financial literacy. Hence, we aim to provide participants with broader and deeper insights into the subject.

This year SIGCM is specifically designed to educate participants on how financial technology (fintech) developments have transformed the stock investment landscape. Digital transformation in the stock market has not only made transactions faster and more accessible but has also significantly impacted investor behavior. Participants will explore how easy access via digital platforms has sparked greater interest in stock investments, while simultaneously introducing new challenges such as impulsive investing tendencies and increased risks.

One of our speakers, Handi Erawan, S.I.Kom. is the Founder and CEO House of Traders Community which is a stock market education platform focusing on empowering retail investors through structured learning programs, educational content, and many more. He brought out how easy access in investment also has its downside, about how it affects investors’ impulsiveness in their decision-making. He also mentioned how smooth stock investment landscape has transformed, making it possible for only those who are able to practice their self-discipline to survive in this dynamic financial field.

Another knowledge transfer talk show we had was by Saraswati, S.T., a Senior Business Intelligence at Bibit. She spoke about how digital platforms can enhance investment learning. She mentioned there are fundamentals and technicalities to keep in mind before you jump into the stock investment field, in order to prepare for readiness and build an investing mindset. Not only that, she also encouraged audiences to not be hesitant in view of the fact that fintech development has brought many simplicity.

Moderated by Dr. Drs. Heri Sukendar W, one of BINUS lecturers, the event successfully created an interactive and lively environment, allowing participants to engage directly with the speakers during Q&A sessions. Dr. Heri skillfully moderated the discussions, enabling attendees to explore the presented topics in greater depth of smart investing principles. The event achieved wide accessibility, welcoming both in-person and virtual participants who were keen to improve their financial literacy.

It is hoped that through this talk show, particularly for students, participants will develop a stronger understanding of the investment world and the ability to create smart, structured investment plans tailored to their personal financial situations.
