HIMME Social Responsibility 2024: “Sharing Kindness Creating Smiles”

HIMME Social Responsibility (HSR) is one of HIMME BINUS’s event that aims to show HIMME’s commitment to social responsibility and environmental care. HSR 2024 was held on Saturday, November 30, 2024. This event was held at Yayasan Kasih Orang Tua dan Peduli Anak Pniel.

HSR 2024 invited BINUSIAN from BINUS Business School to participate in a social responsibility event and contribute to environmental care as well, particularly to the elderly community in nursing home. This activity helped BINUSIAN from BBS demonstrate their concern to the community.

This event consisted of several activities, including medical check-up, warming up sessions, cooking, cleaning the nursing home, and cleaning the kitchen area. The volunteers were divided into several groups with an assigned group leader to manage the activity into completion in a timely manner.  The event began with an opening ceremony, then proceeded to the medical check-up session for the nursing home residents in which HSR 2024 collaborated with the Public Health Student Association Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (HMPSKM UIN). The Public Health Student Association Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah helped us in providing the medical check-up. This medical check-up was carried out for all elderly people who reside at Yayasan Kasih Orang Tua dan Peduli Anak Pniel which provided them with the latest overview of their physical health. The event was continued with warming up activities, such as exercise and ice breaking. This activity provided the elderly with a chance to have some physical exercises to maintain their health. The committee carried this session in which a suitable exercise regiment was provided to guide the elderly residents.

After both activities were completed, the next session was break time. In this session, the volunteers were assigned to assist the nursing home administrators in feeding the elderly. After break time, the volunteers were divided into groups and each group was assigned to have conversation with the elderly, in which they shared stories from their youth and how it was back then. After the sharing session, the committee gave the daily necessities for the nursing home including rice, eggs, sugar, soy sauce, tea, and more. The event concluded with a photo session with the nursing home residents and staff.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Yayasan Kasih Orang Tua dan Peduli Anak Pniel and The Public Health Student Association Universitas Islam Negeri Syarif Hidayatullah (HMPSKM UIN) for the collaboration. We are truly grateful for the smooth execution and success of this event. We also like to extend our appreciation to all the committees involved in this event. Lastly, we would like to offer our profound gratitude to Beras Cap Topi Koki, Lynn Snack, and Bandara Soekarno-Hatta by Injourney Airport for your support.
