HIMSBOO! the Halloween Party of HIMSI’s Family Day

What is a Family Day? It might be the first thing that comes to mind. A Family Day is a new event added to HIMSI’s 2026 work program, created by the 2026-2027 HIMSI President, Salma Nur Paramitha.

So, what exactly is HIMSI’s Family Day? It is a day where English Literature students at BINUS University gather, get to know one another, and have fun together.

This year’s Family Day took place in October. The committee had the idea to combine it with another event happening this month: Halloween. Thus, the committee decided to make this year’s Family Day Halloween-themed.

During the general meeting, the theme was discussed, and the event was eventually named “HIMSBOO.”

Following the initial meeting, further preparations took place. Posters to promote the event were created by HIMSI’s Creative team, and ideas for decorations and activities were brainstormed. Another meeting was held a few days before the event to finalize the rundown.

Finally, the day of the event arrived. It was held in the Creative Space at the BINUS University Syahdan Campus. The day began with room decorations, followed by a briefing session with the MCs, Chelsea and Christo. The event then officially started. The MCs opened the event, welcomed the participants, and introduced the event leader, Devan, who gave an opening speech.

Shortly after the speech, the first game—Truth or Dare—began, played in groups. Using Uno cards as props, an odd number meant truth, and an even number meant dare. The MCs read from a prepared list of truths and dares, and the participants had to answer truthfully or perform the dare.

After the first game, the event moved on to the second activity: a costume contest. This was held in the form of a runway with background music. Participants walked a pretend catwalk and then explained what they were dressed as.

Once the costume contest concluded, the event moved to its final activity: musical chairs. This was played conventionally, where the music stops, and those without a seat are eliminated.

The game concluded when the last person standing—the one who secured the final seat—was declared the winner. Afterward, the winners of both the costume contest and musical chairs were announced. Prizes were distributed to the winners, followed by a final group photo, and the MCs officially closed the event.

In conclusion, HIMSI’s Family Day is a time for English Literature students to have fun, get to know each other, and bond through games and activities designed to strengthen the community.
