PoW: Sea of Emptiness by Nadia Salsabila

Sea of Emptiness

In the midnight
With an empty mind and thought
I am looking at the sea
Where we can reach a dream island
Or people call it,
“the world of the happy moment”
Wondering if I can make it
to live only with happy memories,
I decide to take off with the ship,
And sailing through an endless sea

I still saw nothing
I only saw a vast ocean,
dark sky,
and crescent moon
Still not giving up
Still hoping
Yes,
Only hope to reach it
Only hope to get my true happiness
I still want to find my dream island
I continue to sail
Even if it will cost my life

After I sail far away
I reach the destination
But soon I aware,
that my dream island is just a mirage,
which is full of people’s emptiness
But I don’t want to believe it
In the state of denials,
full of emptiness,
and full of madness
I decide to continue to sail
Through an endless sea
Forever,
ever,
and ever

Author’s commentary: I made this poem when I’m overthinking at midnight as one thing that comes into my mind was the vast sea, emptiness, and dream. People always dream too much, which can trigger their void if they don’t achieve their goal. The vast ocean also represents the void of people. As we know, the sea is endless and massive shallow, just like the people who only think about achieving their dream and happiness without a target or purpose.
