TOEFL Test Event with Englishvit: A Success at BINUS Alam Sutera

The 2024 TOEFL Test Event, held in collaboration with Englishvit, marked a significant milestone for English proficiency testing at BINUS Alam Sutera. On July 27, 2024, Room A1307 became a hub of activity as participants gathered to take part in this essential examination. The event was designed to provide a seamless and efficient platform for test-takers, focusing on evaluating their skills in reading, structure and written expression, as well as listening. Organized into two shifts, the first from 08:30–11:40 and the second from 12:50–16:00, the event ensured a smooth flow and ample opportunity for participants to showcase their abilities.

The turnout exceeded expectations, with a total of 54 participants—45 Binusians (despite one absence) and 9 non-Binusians. This impressive attendance surpassed the initial target of 40 participants, highlighting the event’s appeal. The Binusians represented the Alam Sutera and Kemanggisan campuses, while the non-Binusians included students from various high schools, as well as Atma Jaya University and Tarumanagara University. Many attendees expressed that their primary motivation for joining the event was to fulfill their Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) certificate requirements for graduation and thesis purposes, as well as to gauge their English proficiency. Consequently, a majority of the participants were B25 students (third-year Binusians).

The structure of the event was straightforward yet effective. Each shift commenced with an introduction to the rules and guidelines of the TOEFL test by the master of ceremonies, followed by a Q&A session to address any concerns. The participants then undertook the TOEFL test, which was the focal point of the event. After the test, there was a documentation session to capture the event’s highlights, and finally, participants were asked to complete satisfaction forms to provide feedback on their experience.

Overall, the 2024 TOEFL Test Event with Englishvit at BINUS Alam Sutera was a resounding success. The event not only facilitated a critical assessment opportunity for students but also reinforced the importance of English proficiency in academic and professional settings. The positive turnout and feedback from participants underscore the event’s effectiveness and the continued need for such platforms to support students in their educational and career pursuits.
