HIMTI Seminar @Senayan x CyberHouse: Navigating Cybersecurity in Indonesia’s Data Protection Era with PDP Compliance and Regulations

On Saturday, November 15th 2024, a seminar with the topic “Navigating Cybersecurity in Indonesia’s Data Protection Era with PDP Compliance and Regulations” was held onsite by HIMTI BINUS Senayan in collaboration with CyberHouse.id in room 310 at Binus JWC Campus.

The workshop began at 1.40 PM with the open gate session, where all participants were welcomed into the room. Mandy and Cindy, as the MCs, warmly greeted them and reminded them to fill in the entry ticket. Following the MC’s opening remarks, the event continued with welcome speeches from Priscilla Abigail as the event chairman and Lenno Aubert Hartono as the president of HIMTI Senayan. Next up, the MCs introduced the speaker, Efraim Julian Rangga, a senior IT governance and security management at PT. Infomedia Nusantara. He took significant roles as a purple team member focusing on penetration testing, analyst, and governance.

Following the introduction, the stage was given to Efraim Julian Rangga to deliver his presentation. He began by providing insights into the trend of cyber attack and data breach in Indonesia. He illustrated the top classification anomaly traffic and examples of data breach cases in Indonesia. He also covered the data privacy regulations in Indonesia including UU PDP No. 27 Tahun 2022 and parties involved in personal data processing.

He then elaborated on the comprehensive governance to build cyber security and data privacy, how to implement zero-trust frameworks to protect systems from unexpected events, and security design principles. He concluded the first session with some tips and tricks for preparing to meet cyber security challenges in the future, along with the details of each role that is on demand in the fields of data privacy and cyber security.

Before the first session ended, the MCs moderated the QnA session for around 10 minutes and called a break which was a consumption session, where participants, speakers, and committees could enjoy the meal provided outside the auditorium room.

Moving on the next session, MCs welcomed back all participants for the demonstration session by the speaker. In this session, kak Efraim tried to show the participants some tools that are widely used in the industry for various cybersecurity actions, such as penetration testing and web scanning. He also showed the participants about the security level of some websites and told them that unsecure websites can be reported to the government for further action.

After the demo session, the seminar moved into its last session: a Kahoot game. In this interactive session, participants were tested on their knowledge and understanding regarding the material presented by the speaker. Hosted enthusiastically by the MCs, the game concluded with announcing the winners where they can get a free class session by our partner in this event, CyberHouse.

Before wrapping up, a photo session was held with the committees, MCs, and participants gathered in the middle of the auditorium to capture the success of the event. The MC then reminded all participants to fill out the exit ticket before they leave. With that, the 2024 HIMTI Seminar @Senayan x CyberHouse was officially closed by the MCs.

The event ran smoothly from start to finish. It is hoped that through this seminar, participants can gain valuable knowledge to support their future endeavors.
