AIESEC Future Leaders (Summer Peak) 2022: Youth Growth Mindset

AIESEC Future Leaders (AFL) is initiated by AIESEC in Indonesia and AIESEC in BINUS with the aim to provide youth coaching in the form of a community so that they can further develop youth leadership roles in society. This program was conducted from 9 April to 18 June in 2022, with a total of 68 participants. AFL is a 3-month program consisting of skill development sessions where participants can get coaching for soft & hard skills listed in the AFL curriculum. This program was attended by participants aged 18-21 years with a range of education levels, namely 3rd-grade high school students, BINUS University students (B2022-B2025), and students in big cities.  This 3-month program was conducted every two weeks with 3 major themes for 6 sessions. 

Speaker Aleisha Fiona delivered the first session of Bi-Weekly with the theme “How to Conquer Culture Shock”. In addition to understanding the importance of focusing on dealing with culture shock through discussion sessions on easy adaptation strategies. Participants were allowed to share their concerns and fears about multiculturalism with the speakers during this session.

Speaker Nafisah Mazaya Az-Zahra delivered the second Bi-Weekly session with the theme “Me & You vs The World”.  Although not inferior to the previous speaker, the topic of the second speaker was still quite relevant to the previous topic, namely explaining interpersonal skills and mindset to deal with culture shock in a multicultural environment.  Participants were allowed to discuss and apply the skills that have been gained through experience during this session.

Speaker Aliyah Difia Rahma delivered the third Bi-Weekly session with the theme “Effective Management: How to Sharpen Your Life Skills”. The session began with an introduction to personal management skills and their importance and some tips on how to practice these skills. Sis Aliyah also shared tips on how to have a balanced school/work life and discussed the issues of a toxic productive lifestyle.

Speaker Alifa Hana Syahrani delivered the fourth Bi-Weekly session with the theme “Act Now: Improve Your Leadership Quality”. The speaker started the session by sparking a discussion with the delegates about leadership and also shared some of his past experiences, mistakes, and struggles to become a leader. Participants were also allowed to discuss and reflect on the insights they gained about leadership during this session.

Speaker Damara Anisah Putri Pratama delivered the fifth Bi-Weekly session with the theme “Manage Your Financial Before Execute To The Business World”. The session discussed the speaker’s company journey, growth, and struggle until it is known today. The speaker also shared some meaningful and applicable tips and strategies for managing finance, priorities, and other business aspects.

Speaker Katia Shiffana delivered the sixth Bi-Weekly session with the theme “How to Decide Hard Decision for Your Business Purposes”. Not only did the speaker share an interesting story of how her company was formed, but she also highlighted the fact that every decision could affect the situation of a business. Participants were taught how to create smart decisions, see things from different perspectives, and the mindset that we should have if we want to operate a business.

Each month, a few participants were nominated as the best participant and got a chance to win an e-wallet as an appreciation from ous from attending and participating in the session actively. Furthermore, AFL provides other activities besides Bi-weekly sessions and coaching sessions such as Networking Space which was held 3 times. The Networking Space aims to enable participants to widen their connection with AFL Participants from AIESEC in Indonesia and abroad. There was also an LC Debrief where this event was held as a sign of farewell to AFL in BINUS with the participants and coaches. Participants can choose various opportunities through Activating Leadership Support (ALS) on what they want to do after they graduate from AFL. Participants must first take the AFL National Graduation before they can continue their journey to ALS.

Through this AIESEC Future Leaders program, AIESEC in BINUS wants to develop Leadership Development Qualities consisting of a solution-oriented, world citizen, self-awareness, and empowering others.
