In 2020, the number of malnourished individuals is expected to reach 768 million. This equates to 10% of the world’s population, a growth of around 118 million people from 2019.
- The Global Hunger Index placed Indonesia 70th out of 117 qualified nations. The reflects Indonesia’s chronic hunger problem, which has resulted in a large number of cases of stunted development, caused by a child’s diet lacking in nutrients.
- Aside from coordinating with nonprofit organizations globally to combat hunger in Indonesia, The Indonesian government established the Raskin Program to provide subsidized rice to the most needy households on a monthly basis.
