How to Speak Like an AIESECer

You might have noticed that in AIESEC, we have a lot of terms that are foreign to non-AIESECers. Here’s a few essential AIESEC terms to help develop your AIESEC tongue!

LC

LC stands for Local Committee, which is a branch of AIESEC in various parts of the region. AIESEC in Indonesia has 26 LCs spread across Indonesia!

EB

EB stands for Executive Board, which is an executive committee that jointly oversees the organization’s activities. In LC level, the Executive Board consists of the LCP (Local Committee President) and LCVPs (Local Committee Vice Presidents).

MB

MB stands for Management Board, which is a managerial-level group responsible of managing each functional under AIESEC departments. MB consists of Team Leaders or Managers, who provide guidance, instruction, direction and leadership to their team member/staffs for the purpose of achieving a key outcome.

OC or CC

Organizing Committee (OC) is a committee unit that has responsibility for the realization of activities or events in AIESEC, e.g. project, webinar, talkshow, etc.

Conference Committee (CC) is a committee unit that has responsibility to conduct AIESEC’s conference.

Newie

Newie is what we call a new AIESEC member candidate that is recently recruited or currently undergoing probation.

Synergize

In AIESEC, a discussion to exchange ideas and opinions in doing a job is called to synergize or synergizing.

Wave

To indicate the discussion at the meeting has been sufficient, we say “wave” which means that everything is all clear.

Pop up

To pop up is to show that you want to express your opinion and speak up. This is usually done at an event or conference.
