With the complex nature of sports, where athletes and strategies are ever evolving, sports clubs are always on the search for new strategies and techniques to enhance the performance of athletes and improve their overall skill as a professional athlete by using all the resources that are available in the world.

In desperate search of new ways and methods of medium for enhancing their athletes’ performance, sport clubs start to implement technology and science to their routine, and has been proven effective by the countless visible improvements that we as spectators can see.

Information Technology has proven as a game-changer, offering a multitude of tools and techniques to enhance sport performance, from performance analysis with precision better than any humans, to data tracking to real-time feedback and virtual training has reshaped how trainers and sport clubs create their routine and reach new heights of achievements.

Role of Information Technology in assisting game officials throughout the game.

Sport fans are familiar with controversial calls and missed calls by game officials, causing feelings of frustration and unfairness, especially when your favourite sports team’s outcome on the game is on the line.

Due to human nature, game officials are bound to make mistakes in their decision officiating the game. Sports fans are famous for witch hunting the referees/umpire after a controversial call is made on their favourite team or athlete, to the point where it affected the officials personal life.

Sport organisations have come to a solution where information technology is implemented to help officials, transforming how the game is officiated and improving overall the experience for athletes and spectators. There are many ways on how Information Technology revolutionised the role of officials.

1.Instant Replay and Video Assistant Referees (VAR)

This technology is one of the most notable and also the earliest implementation of technology in sports officiating. This technology gives officials the ability to review game-changing incidents like goals, fouls, and boundary decisions in real time after they occur.

2. Hawk-Eye Technology

With the limitations of the human sight due to environments that are inevitable, officials are bound to make inaccurate calls, this problem is common in sports like badminton and tennis. Inaccurate boundary calls are bound to happen whether the athletes and fans like it or not. The Hawk-Eye Technology solved this problem, by using the cutting edge technology to trace the ball trajectory accurately and give a definite decision whether the ball had crossed the boundary.

3. Sensors

The famous UK’s football organisation the Premier League have implemented     goal-line sensors to give an accurate decision whether there is a goal or not.

There are countless ways Information Technology has helped improve sport performance of athletes and game officiating, and is used in large scale sporting events like the olympics. The integration of information technology in sports has undeniably elevated the standards of fairness, accuracy, and efficiency and most importantly the experience of athletes and spectators alike.
