STUDI BANDING: HIMSI Binus x IKMI UI
Benchmark: HIMSI on Tour is a work program with an aim to compare operation differences between two organizations in the same field, in our case, our very own English Department. With the purpose of analysis, discussions, improvements, and much more in each respective organization’s performance. This time around, upon the 25th of October, 2025, HIMSI had the honour of hosting University of Indonesia’s very own IKMI (Ikatan Kekeluargaan Mahasiswa Program Studi Inggris).
From the start our collaborative event was bustling to say the least, starting off with wonderful introductions from HIMSI’s very own Rizky alongside IKMI’s representative, Nayki who sparked wonderful chemistry in being our duo MCs. Through them, we were first guided to opening speeches from both IKMI’s president, Naufal, followed by HIMSI’s very own president, Yuliana. More engaging agendas came to be when firstly, we were arranged to sit in accordance to our divisions, both within respective equivalences in HIMSI and IKMI’s structure of departments.
Once we were all properly seated, we were given the pleasure of listening to IKMI’s as well as HIMSI’s respective Grand Designs presented by representatives from both organizations, containing the big scope of each organization’s introductions, vision and mission, structure, divisions, and work programs. Both presentations granted both organizations a beginning clarity of our differences, as well as common grounds, which we were able to explore further with a Q & A session. Furthermore on engagement, shortly after our Q & A session we were granted time per divisions seated together to have our own discussions to swap insight, ideas, struggles, common stories and much more.
After a very engaging exchange of thoughts within each group’s discussions which certainly familiarized us much more with one another, we met a quite exciting agenda: mini games! The games had a common theme (a wink to our respective major, English Literature), which consisted of Idiom Translation Game, Guess the Song from the translation lyrics, and Guess the Movie from the line!
Finally, after a little friendly competition in said games, we soon reached the end of the event. We wrapped up with a final send off by our MCs, and of course, a documentation session to memorialize such an unforgettable event. It’s safe to say this work program is one for the books, leaving each respective organization with not just new insights, ideas, lessons, but new companions as well, and a day to remember.
