How I Met Your Mother’s Spin-off: How I Met Your Father
If you are a fan of western TV shows, you might also be familiar with How I Met Your Mother. A sitcom series about a man–Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor)–who tells his children how he met the mother and his love life before he meets her. How I Met Your Mother last season aired in 2014 after nine seasons. Eight years since the last season, the spin-off, How I Met Your Father, started its first season this year. How I Met Your Father is about Sophie (Hillary Duff) who tells her son the story of how she meets the father.

- The Apartment

On episode one of How I Met Your Father, we can see the apartment from How I Met Your Mother and hear when Sid (Suraj Sharma) and Jesse (Chris Lowell) said they bought the apartment from the old married couple who posted it on the Wesleyan Alumni Group. As you can remember, Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan) sold their apartment to move into a bigger house. One little thing, Marshall left the swords in the apartment, then Sid and Jesse display them because they think it’s cool.
- They Always Hang Out at the Bar

We all remember Ted and the gang’s favorite bar, MacLaren’s Pub. Similar to the first series, in How I Met Your Father, Sophie, and the gang are also always hanging out in Sid’s bar. We all remember all the big things that happen in MacLaren’s Pub, such as when Marshall and Lily celebrate their engagement. In How I Met Your Father, we all hoped many big things would happen in Sid’s bar.
- The Way They Force Their Kids to Listen
We never forget one thing that makes How I Met Your Mother unique, Ted, telling his children the story of how he met the mother in 2030. Of course, in How I Met Your Father, Sophie also does the same thing. Telling her son about how she met the father in 2050. Ted’s children and Sophie’s son hate it when their parents force them to sit down and listen to the story for hours. But, that is what makes both series unique, right?
- Robin Scherbatsky and the MacLaren’s Pub

In episode 10, Sophie is in Maclaren’s Pub when she meets her idol, Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders). She admitted to Robin that she is a fan, which makes Robin happy to meet her and wants to hear about Sophie’s love story. She says that hearing a stupid love story will help her bring back the old memories. Also, the way Robin said she always stopped by at MacLaren’s Pub every time she was nearby, really warmed the fans’ hearts.
Both series have their uniqueness, although they have a lot of similar details. Watching the spin-off after you watched the first one does not make you have a similar experience to the old one. You will find something new, fresh, and modern in How I Met Your Father. You will find that their life is our actual daily life.
Just like Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother always said, “new is always better.” So, maybe How I Met Your Father will be better than the first one.
