What is a Safe Campus? An Insight of FARCO’s Event with AGD DINKES DKI Jakarta
It was a sunny afternoon when I received an invitation to represent HIMSI during an event held by our own university’s organization, FARCO. The organization that is known for its services to the society, FARCO is a Fast Response Community of BINUS University. Like its name, they’re there whenever an emergency happens on our campus. On October, 15 2021, FARCO was conducting an event with AGD DINKES DKI Jakarta, and you are probably thinking, what is AGD? Well, since our country loves to use acronyms everywhere, let me explain, AGD stands for Ambulans Gawat Darurat Dinas Kesehatan DKI Jakarta. And they were sending invitations for every OK (Organisasi Kemahasiswaan). HIMSI delegates were Adhitya Fajar Ramadhan (last seen as the MC during the election) and Handiko Wijaya (now a sophomore).
The event was titled “Safe Campus: Safe You, Safe Others”. It started around 1 PM (WIB) through Zoom (of course). And we’re quickly introduced to our MC and one of the speakers, Angelique Chrysanti as Asisten Unit Commander BINUS @Senayan. First, the MC (that I forgot his name, but still think his vibe is amazing, keep it up MC!) introduced us to the organization, FARCO. If you have any interest in helping people’s lives, be an emergency officer, or just want to volunteer for the greater society, then FARCO is your place. Sadly, I don’t know if they’re still opening registration, but please check their website.
Not wasting any second, Angelique took over as the first speaker for that event. She gave many important information regarding the emergency hotline for the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek) and universal in Indonesia. With the help of a video that she played, information could be gathered that heart attack is a really serious condition. We only have a few minutes to actually save a person who has a heart attack! Quoted from an article published by CNN Indonesia, in 2014, 52% of casualties from non-communicable disease were coming from heart disease. This information should be taken into a more serious conversation, as we need to take care of our lifestyle. Maybe it’s time to leave that alcohol and instant food.
There is also a thing that you should consider having in your house. It’s an AED (automated external defibrillator). From this event, we can understand that AED is the most important thing that we need to have, because a golden hour during a heart attack is important. With AED, we as civilians can help to prevent death while waiting for the ambulance to arrive. If you own an AED, don’t forget to check it once every one or two months, to make sure the battery is still active.
After Angelique, Anhari B. Rawi S. was about to give his presentation regarding an emergency too. Being the person responsible for the marketing of AGD DINKES DKI Jakarta, he has many new knowledge regarding the AGD in Jabodetabek, and even for the whole country. For example, he shared that JAKI is a must have application if you live in the Greater Jakarta area. JAKI has a feature that enables you to call for an ambulance in under three seconds, and it’s free! Although there are some terms so you won’t be charged for the ambulance, for example, you need to have KTP/KK DKI Jakarta, and it needs to be an emergency. You can’t call for an ambulance just because you have a headache. Each city and regency in the Greater Jakarta area have their own regulation for prices, so it’s better if you ask and do more research regarding your place.
Last but not least, another important thing to note is the hotline numbers. 119 or 112. Please contact them during an emergency where you need an ambulance. The price of your life is more important than the cost of an ambulance.
