CLUB SANDWICH 2024: WORLD SMILE DAY

HIMSI is back with another event! On Saturday, 5th October 2024, HIMSI hosted an event called Club Sandwich. The theme for this year was World Smile Day, which we hope can spread happiness to everyone who attends this event. For those who don’t know, Club Sandwich is part of the HIMSI annual event to introduce all four clubs in the recently renamed Creative Digital English (CDE) major. Through Club Sandwich, new students from B28 CDE can learn more about the clubs and their programs.

The four clubs in the CDE Department are:

Literature Club: A club that emphasizes appreciating and creating English literature as a whole.

Drama Club: A club that practices English in the arts of theatrical performance.

Journalism Club: A club that practices English journalism and is known to publish a magazine titled GLIDES Magazine around every two months.

Movie Club: A club that serves as a medium for learning English from movies.

The event started at around 13:30 with the opening greeting by Hilmy as our MC (Master of Ceremony), who is also the Club Sandwich staff and a fifth-semester student of CDE. After that, we had a welcoming speech from HIMSI President Regina Ayu and also from Julia Kiara, head of the Club Sandwich committee and one of HIMSI’s coordinators, to open the presentation session.

For the presentation session, the Literature Club was given a chance to do the first presentation and showcased their club. One of the highlights from the Literature Club was their collaboration with ELATE, the theatrical drama program under the CDE Department.

After that, it was continued with the Journalism Club presentation, with one of the highlights being their bimonthly publication of GLIDES Magazine, created by members of the Journalism Club that showcases English in journalism articles.

After that, it was continued by the Drama Club presentation, with one of the highlights being the ELATE program, which was originally created as a project to revive the Drama Club due to the impact of COVID-19. This year’s ELATE is managed by Alfiya Syakura, the coordinator and also presenter of Drama Club.

And the last presentation was from the Movie Club. One of the highlights was the upcoming training system for movie production, alongside upcoming offline and online gathering events to watch movies as a medium for learning English.

After the presentation session, Literature & Drama Club coordinator Dimas & Asya resumed the event with a surprise announcement of collaboration between Literature & Drama Club for next year’s ELATE.

It was later continued by a free roam session to visit the booths of the clubs. Students are encouraged to visit the booths and ask everything they want to know about the club to the representatives in the booth.

In the end, this year’s Club Sandwich was finished with a closing statement from our MC Hilmy.

The event contained many good decorations and fun games of each club in their respective booths provided by the committees of Club Sandwich. The event ended with many students scanning the QR provided to give their feedback and their preference of the clubs. We hope Club Sandwich can bring more members to all the clubs. See you all until next year!
