The First HIMSI 2021’s Activists Public Meeting
On Thursday, April 22, 2021, HIMSI conducted its first public meeting in Google Meet with a total of 63 participants. This meeting was conducted by the Board of Management (BoM) to introduce HIMSI’s new work plan, divisions’ job description, and AD/ART to the 2021 Troops. This meeting was needed so the Troopers can understand their jobs in HIMSI and stay active even though we can’t meet offline due to never-ending Covid-19 cases.
Before I explain further about the discussion of this meeting, I’m going to introduce the new Troops of HIMSI in 2021! There are 69 Troopers for the 2021-2022 period which consist of Binusian 22 until Binusian 24. For now, there are 5 divisions in HIMSI, which are: Public Relations, Creative, Education, Human Resources, and Student Development. HIMSI has 4 councils running the BoM, each division has its Coordinator and Secretary. Hopefully, they can make HIMSI become a better organization.
Now, let’s get down to the meeting! So, the meeting began with the explanation of the monthly fee by Ahmad Fikri Adzhani, the Treasurer of HIMSI. Each Troop must pay Rp30.000,00 for each month to Fikri. The next agenda is the division placement, so the new Troops know which divisions they are in. Please, check the gallery to see the placement!
Move on to the next agenda! Pieter Bagaskara Astadiningrat, the President of HIMSI, explained HIMSI’s work plan in 2021. There are 5 events in HIMSI’s work plan, namely, LOTr, P2M, HIMSI’s Creed, TKH: Omnis, and NEC: ELF. Pieter also said that HIMSI is currently planning to hold comparative study with English Literature students from other universities, but the dates are still TBA. But I hope the Comparative Studies will be conducted, so HIMSI can work together with other English Literature associations from other universities.
Next in the schedule, we have the explanation of each divisions’ job description. The first one is the Public Relations Division, which is to manage HIMSI’s social media, make the list of national and literature days with Creative Division, build internal (student associations in BINUS) and external relation (media partners, NGO, or anything else), and also to manage HIMSI’s website. Fun fact! Starting from May, for English literature students who are interested in writing articles, all of you can submit your writing to BoM or Handiko Wijaya, the HIMSI’s Website Coordinator, so we can upload your writing to HIMSI’s website. But remember! The theme of the article must relate to nusantara.
The second one is the Education Division. Their jobs consist of tutoring English Literature students so they are more prepared for their exams. The tutor of each course are selected from English Literature students who are qualified by the Education Division to teach the selected course. Aside from tutoring courses, this division has to collect the data of Troopers’ GPA, credits earned, SAT, and community service hours.
The third one is the Creative Division, their jobs consist of making attractive designs for HIMSI’s social media content, and the Creative Division must cooperate with the Public Relations division to make a posting timeline. I hope the Creative Division can make engaging designs for HIMSI’s Instagram posts.
The fourth one is the Human Resources Division. Their jobdesc consists of handling HIMSI’s recruitment for the English literature students who are interested in becoming HIMSI’s Troops. They also must be handling the performance indicator which includes testimonials of working with each committee and evaluation of the event. Also, the Human Resource division must make HIMSI’s monthly gathering event as the purpose of this event is to build up Troops bonding, so they can know each other.
Last but not least, is the Student Development Division. This division is responsible for handling and becoming the supervisor of the clubs in HIMSI, so the Student Development Division must attend each club’s meetings and monitor their activities. The clubs in HIMSI consist of Journalism Club, Movie Club, and Drama Club. Also, they must make a club gathering to introduce our major clubs to Binusian 25. So, the Student Development division must arrange an interesting club gathering so it can attract the Binusian 25 to join our clubs.
The last agenda of the meeting is the explanation of the new AD/ART that has been discussed by HIMSI’s president and vice-president in the previous meeting. For 2021 AD/ART, there are several changes in HIMSI’s vision and 1 article was added in AD/ART. There are 3 persons who are going to sign AD/ART which is consist of: Pieter Bagaskara Astadiningrat as the President of HIMSI, Clara Nathania as the Vice-President of HIMSI, and Jie Adi Julius from Binusian 24 as the representatives of HIMSI’s activist.
Some of the Troopers share their ideas and suggestions for the divisions’ job which makes me happy because there are still troops who want to improve HIMSI and turn it into a better place for the Troopers, and the rest of the English literature students. Their suggestions are going to be discussed by the BoM!
We ended the meeting with a photo session to document our agenda. The photos can be seen in our gallery, or you can just click this. This marks the beginning of HIMSI’s new journey in 2021. May the new Troops work together to bring a new era in HIMSI, and I wish all of the Troops to become more active! I’m so happy to be working with you Troops, and please be cooperative!
