Although Binus University hasn’t had any Food Technology graduates yet, that doesn’t stop them from being one of the best student association in the campus. Based only on Alam Sutera, HIMFOODTECH is filled with vibrant people that are driven by their will to held exciting events. The most recent one of them was a welcoming party for Binusian 2021 called Fermentation 3.0.

Fermentation 3.0 was held on August 31st 2017 at Binus University Alam Sutera Main Campus. When participants arrived, they were greeted with friendly and welcoming smiles. They also gave away tote bags, inside there were stickers and a pin. When you enter the room, there was a divider filled with photographs of previous events by HIMFOODTECH. And then participants could take a photo with fun props that are provided by the committee. Since they prepared lots of props, they opted for a plain white background.

The chairs in the class was already arranged to sides so there was a large space for participants to sit on the floor. On the whiteboard, you can see various types of food formed as their theme, “FENOL”, which stands for Freshmen Encourage Food Leaders.

The event was opened by two emcees. And then the participants stood up one by one to introduce themselves. The participants didn’t consist of just Binusian21, there were a couple of Binusian20 and Binusian19 that also joined the event as participants. After everybody, including the committee, has introduced themselves, all of the participants were asked to stand in one big circle to play an icebreaker game for fun. Later, they were divided into groups that were decided beforehand by the committee. They had assigned interesting group names which are associated with Food Technology, such as, methanol, ethanol, propanol, and so on.

Then, the emcees explained that the game was based on points. There would be mini-games spread on different floors and classes, but participants have to figure out where it’s held by themselves through hints that would be given to each team. Teams could also gather extra points by finding flags with HIMFOODTECH’s logo on it, but they would have to take a picture of the whole team with the flag and upload it to a line group that the committee had made. Soon after understanding the brief explanation, each team raced and fought to win as much games as they could. At the end of the event, the committee announced the top three teams that had the most points.

Afterwards, HIMFOODTECH explained about their committee and urged the participants, particularly Binusian21, to join and sign up as activists in HIMFOODTECH, where students would be able to develop their soft skills and earn new friends.

Overall, the event was a huge success, everybody left with great satisfaction and everyone seemed to be delighted that they didn’t miss the best welcome party on the campus.
