Starting university marks an exciting new chapter for every freshman. Beyond adapting to a new academic environment, students have the opportunity to discover new interests, meet different people, and develop themselves in ways they may have never experienced before. It is a time to step outside their comfort zones, embrace new possibilities, and shape the person they want to become. With countless opportunities available on campus, freshmen are encouraged to explore, connect, and find communities that can support their personal and academic growth.
From July 20 to August 15, 2026, these students joined the NEXT Program, a series of activities designed to welcome freshmen and introduce them to university life. Rather than being limited to formal introductions, NEXT focuses on fun, exploration, and connection. Student organizations across BINUS set up booths and activities, creating a lively campus expo where freshmen could discover communities, participate in mini-activities, and interact directly with senior students. Through these experiences, freshmen could explore their interests, meet new people, and discover organizations that could make their university journey more meaningful. The program also provided an opportunity for freshmen to become more familiar with the diverse communities and activities available throughout their university experience.
Among these opportunities, BNEC welcomes freshmen through its New Member Recruitment (NMR) activities. BNEC prepared an engaging booth experience featuring eye-catching decorations, promotional campaigns, and interactive activities. Committees were ready to welcome freshmen, introduce them to BNEC, and create a comfortable environment for conversation. Freshmen could also participate in interactive games such as the “Extraordinary Spin Challenge!” and “Extraordinary Aquarium Gacha!”, where they could test their luck and win exciting prizes while getting to know BNEC. These activities were designed to attract attention while creating memorable first interactions between freshmen and the BNEC community. Through direct conversations, promotional materials, and interactive experiences, participants were also introduced to the various opportunities available within BNEC, allowing them to understand the organization beyond its activities at the booth.
The theme “Ready, Set, Extraordinary!” represents the beginning of a new journey where students are encouraged to prepare themselves, build confidence, and pursue their potential. “Ready” reflects the willingness to embrace new opportunities, challenges, and experiences. “Set” represents the confidence and determination to take the first step, while “Extraordinary” symbolizes the personal growth, achievements, friendships, and meaningful experiences students can gain throughout their journey in BNEC. Together, these elements encourage freshmen to approach university life with an open mind and the courage to discover what they are capable of achieving. The theme also reflects BNEC’s goal of encouraging students to actively participate in their university experience instead of simply adapting to it.
Through this theme, NMR 2026 encourages students to see BNEC as more than an English-based organization. It serves as a starting point for a meaningful journey where students can develop their English proficiency alongside leadership, communication, teamwork, networking, and self-development skills within a supportive and collaborative community. By joining BNEC, students can take part in classes, communities, programs, and organizational experiences that allow them to learn while building relationships with fellow members. These experiences are intended to help students become more confident in expressing themselves, working with others, taking responsibility, and exploring their individual potential. Ultimately, BNEC hopes to inspire every new member to embrace new experiences, build meaningful connections, discover their strengths, and take the first steps toward becoming their own extraordinary self.
