The Importance of English in our Global Society

English is undeniably a big part of our day to day lives, even here in Indonesia where it is not even our main language. But most of the time, we underestimate the true importance of English as a unifying global language. It is important for us to have a unifying language, either as a reference point to translate to other languages, or to use it directly so that we may be able to communicate with our peers. English is very important because it allows us access to other countries in the sense of communicating with their people. English already has a tremendous global presence, and the lexicons and words are relatively much easier to learn than other languages as it only contains 26 symbols of the alphabet, which can be manipulated to form any English word.
