Game Changers: Adi Utarini, Indonesia’s Groundbreaking Female Scientist

A Professor of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Prof. dr. Adi Utarini, M.Sc, MPH, Ph.D is included in the list of the 100 most influential people in 2021 according to Time magazine.

A skilled researcher with extensive experience, Adi is especially recognized by her colleagues as a great leader as well. Adi Utarini’s ability and professionalism was unquestionable whilst she led a research project on the Dengue Fever virus.

Together with the Yogyakarta World Mosquito Program (WMP) Team, Adi Utarini successfully reduced dengue fever cases by 77%t in Indonesia’s biggest cities by releasing mosquitoes modified with Wolbachia bacteria.

A skilled researcher with extensive experience and unquestionable leadership, Adi Utarini gained global attention and was included in Nature’s 10 most influential scientists in 2020.

She continues to inspire Indonesia’s young researchers to dream big and make the nation a better place for future generations.
