The modern museum design, which incorporates the spatial layout of a traditional Batak Toba house, reflects this. By adhering to the principles of <em>Dalihan Na Tolu<\/em> and local cosmological values, the museum serves as both an educational resource and a way to preserve cultural heritage in a way that meets modern needs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/student-activity.binus.ac.id\/himars\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Picture1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4195\" src=\"http:\/\/student-activity.binus.ac.id\/himars\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Picture1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"319\" height=\"169\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Social Hierarchy in Spatial Planning<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The social hierarchy of the\u00a0Batak Toba\u00a0community is represented by its houses.\u00a0The idea of\u00a0<em>Dalihan Na Tolu<\/em>\u00a0separates space according to social function,\u00a0and in\u00a0museum\u00a0design,\u00a0this concept is manifested through the division of public, semi-public,\u00a0and private spaces.\u00a0Alaman\u00a0is described as the hub of social and cultural engagement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/student-activity.binus.ac.id\/himars\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Picture51.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4196\" src=\"http:\/\/student-activity.binus.ac.id\/himars\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Picture51.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"367\" height=\"153\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Transformation of Traditional Architectural Elements<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The museum incorporates elements like the gorgon decoration,\u00a0the steep gable roof shape,\u00a0and the theatre architecture.\u00a0Although the forms are preserved, contemporary materials like steel and glass are used to create them.\u00a0This combination is both aesthetically pleasing and useful.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/student-activity.binus.ac.id\/himars\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Picture2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4194\" src=\"http:\/\/student-activity.binus.ac.id\/himars\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Picture2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"404\" height=\"253\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Contextual Adaptation for Urban Environments<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The vertical zoning approach was used to address the problem of land scarcity in metropolitan areas. The main floor is now a public space, while the gallery and private rooms are located upstairs.
