BINJUR 2024 with the theme AI in Accounting: “The Use of AI in Business and Assurance”

BINJUR or Bincang Jurusan is an activity event organized by the Accounting Student Association (HIMA) Bina Nusantara University. This event is organized for students majoring in Accounting, Accounting Technology, Accounting & Information Systems, International Accounting & Finance, Finance, and Taxation of Bina Nusantara University. The main purpose of this BINJUR event is to strengthen the relationship between students, lecturers and the administration of the Accounting department.

On May 3, 2024, HIMA organized BINJUR 2024 with the theme AI in Accounting: “The Use of AI in Business and Assurance”. The event was held online with the help of the Zoom Meetings platform. This theme was chosen with the aim of making students more aware of the use of AI in business and assurance. The event will be held online with the Zoom Meetings platform.

The event began with remarks from the Chairman of HIMA 2024 Department Talk by Lenny Cinthia, the general chairman of HIMA 2024 Shannon Theodora Suryanto and the Head of Accounting Study Program (Alam Sutera & Kemanggisan) and Student Organization Advisory HIMA by Dr. Kevin Deniswara, S.E, M.A., CERA., Cert.DA.

This BINJUR event was attended by Sir Kenneth Gunawan, S.Ak., M.Fin., M.S.I. as Vice President of Supply Chain at PT Medco Energi Internasional Tbk. He gave material about how AI affects our work, for example AI in fraud and AI in auditing. He also explained that AI in assurance is very important because AI can improve analytical capabilities, improve the quality of the assurance itself, and also mitigate risks more comprehensively, therefore AI in assurance is very important for companies or organizations but AI is certainly not always correct and accurate, which is one of the challenges of using AI. He also reminded that students use AI to make students’ knowledge accelerate faster, not to make their lives solely dependent on AI.

After the presentation of this material, a 20-minute Q&A session was opened, all participants were very enthusiastic in the Q&A session about AI in Assurance. Throughout this event, students were also very attentive to the delivery of the material and were also active in the question and answer session with Sir Kenneth.

The conclusion of BINJUR 2024 highlights the importance for students to understand why AI is needed and how it is used in assurance. Sir Kenneth also encouraged students to adapt to current technology towards AI in Assurance and to use AI wisely to enhance our knowledge.
