The site’s largest and most photographed structure, grand stone gates built on two levels, clearly lead to what was once a settlement, setting Ratu Boko apart from other archaeological sites in Central Java which are entirely religious in nature.

Historically, this site was a fortress and a temple. Ratu Boko, however, is an ancient kingdom’s ruins. Those unfamiliar with its history refer to it as Ratu Boko Temple instead of Ratu Boko Kraton (palace).

This place is perfect for sunset hunters out there! When the sun hits the horizon, the ruins in Ratu Boko Temple would frame the sun setting, perfect for an instagram post! As the nature frames itself, we should be worrying about the composition because nature has done it for us! Not only for sunset, visitor are able to go for a picnic and enjoy their mornings or afternoon near the ruins!

Candi Ratu Boko

Address: Jl.
