BSSC SHINE\u00a0 is an annual event organized by BINUS Square Student Committee (BSSC) to bring boarders to share love and joy with children. This years BSSC SHINE was held at Pondok Kasih Agape orphanage. This year\u2019s theme is \u201cSharing Love Through Art\u201d. This event aims to provide a platform for emotional expression and self-love through creative means. It served as a response to the challenges many people like volunteers and orphaned children face in expressing emotions, especially love, due to trauma, lack of support, or low self-confidence. Through activities such as drawing, writing, and performing, participants were encouraged to explore new ways of expressing care and love. The event was held over five days at Pondok Kasih Agape orphanage, specifically on Saturday, May 3rd; Sunday, May 4th; Saturday, May 10th; Sunday, May 11th; and Sunday, May 18th, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

The first day of BSSC SHINE 2025\u2019s began with excitement and a heartfelt anticipation. The event officially opened with a prayer by one of the volunteer and warm greetings by the MC, followed by a series of welcoming speeches from a representative from the Pondoh Kasih Agape orphanage, Stephanie Alexandria as the Project Manager of BSSC SHINE 2025, Felicia Susanty as the Chairman of BSSC 15th Presidency and Muhammad Raziva Ramza Aziz, S,E. as the representative from SSO BINUS Square. This was followed by an activity called “Find Your Team”. This activity was made to encourage interaction between the volunteers and the children. Children and volunteers were made into groups by matching puzzle pieces which were distributed randomly to all children. The children would search for their future volunteer leader by searching for the volunteer that had a matching puzzle as them, forming the foundation for the next 4 days shared experiences. After the teams had gathered, there\u2019s a short game session called \u201ckereta belok\u201d where the children gathered in their groups then formed in line by placing their hands on the shoulder of the person in front of them, two volunteers will then give directions to the participants during the game. One volunteer will provide the correct instructions based on a story being narrated, while the other will intentionally give incorrect directions to confuse the players. The event was followed by a theory and sharing session with the theme \u201cKeep Being a Good Person\u201d. The volunteers presented their powerpoints and showed some videos related to the theme, in the end there were brief sharing sessions where some children shared their conclusion on the topic or videos. These sessions provide meaningful space for connection, learning, and support.<\/span><\/p>\n

Day 2 was a lively and creative event, starting with a 5-minute \u201cKing and Queen\u201d activity explanation session that included instructions on how to proceed with the paper crown-making activity. Participants then spent 55 minutes enthusiastically making crowns from folded and joined paper without using glue, drawing things they like, and decorating them with colored pencils, of course, with the help of their respective group organizers. The atmosphere became more colorful when participants were given colored pencils to decorate their crowns with things they liked, and the creativity of the participants was really visible from the variety of designs produced. After finishing making the crowns, the event continued with a 15-minute story-sharing session where participants would share the inspiration behind the crowns they made. The event continued with the \u201cFreeze Dance\u201d game, where participants danced to the beat of the music and had to immediately stop moving when the music stopped, creating tense yet entertaining moments when some of the eliminated participants had to perform the dance in front of their friends.<\/span><\/p>\n

On day 3, we presented a session called \u201cSelf Love\u201d to the children. This session aimed to remind the children of the importance of loving themselves. Afterward, we invited several of them to share their impressions of the event. Then, we held an activity called \u201cLove Letters,\u201d where the children gathered in circles according to their groups. Each child wrote two letters, each containing a positive compliment, and decorated as attractively as possible, one letter was given to the friend sitting to their right, and the other to anyone of their choice.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the fourth day, we held a session called \u201cWhat\u2019s Your Dream,\u201d which explained dreams and future goals. After the session, the children shared stories about their own dreams during a group sharing activity. We then continued with an activity called \u201cFind Your Color,\u201d where a representative from each group answered a riddle whose answer is the name of an object, and chose one of the available colors from the items on the table at the front. The chosen color became the group\u2019s color<\/span><\/p>\n

The fifth and final day of the BSSC Shine event began with \u201cThe Meaning of Colors\u201d, where the participants and their group mates performed unique performances and a lunch session with the kids. In accordance with the theme given in the \u201cFind Your Colors\u201d activity on the 4th day yesterday. The first group was the red group who sang the song Laskar Pelangi, the vibes were relaxed, casual, the song was sung well, and the guitar playing was very good. The second group, the yellow group, sang a Christian song with a beautiful, peaceful, and religious atmosphere. The third group, the green group, sang a song mixed with dance with energetic and active vibes because there was an element of rap. While the last group, the blue group, sang the song Blue by Yung Kai, a love song that brought romantic and flirtatious vibes, plus a short poem about love.<\/span><\/p>\n

The five-day BSSC SHINE 2025 was a heartfelt and impactful journey filled with meaningful connections, creativity, and self-discovery. Each day offered unique experiences\u2014from team-building and value-sharing on the first day, to unleashing creativity through crown-making and games on the second. The third day emphasized self-love and appreciation through thoughtful letter exchanges, while the fourth day inspired children to dream big and identify with colors that symbolized their hopes. The final day brought all these elements together through vibrant group performances that reflected each team\u2019s chosen color, showcasing the children’s talents, emotions, and the deep bonds formed throughout the event.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
