Around the world, thousands of students train, prepare, and travel across borders just to prove their ideas matter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Whether you&#8217;re a curious newbie or a seasoned speaker, here are the <\/span><b>biggest debate tournaments in the world<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> you definitely need to know about!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>1. World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC)<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Welcome to the <\/span><b>Olympics of university debating<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Held every year in different countries each year, the <\/span><b>WUDC<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is the largest international English-language debating competition for university students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It uses the <\/span><b>British Parliamentary (BP) format<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which means 4 teams in a room (2 gov, 2 opp), and a lot of brainpower flying around.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Participants: Over 400 teams from all over the globe<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Past hosts: Thailand, Serbia, South Africa, and more<\/span>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fun fact: Many WUDC alumni go on to become diplomats, researchers, and public speakers.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b style=\"font-size: 14px\">2. World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC)<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This one\u2019s for the high school legends. The <\/span><b>WSDC<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> brings together national teams of high schoolers from over 50 countries.
