As part of this year\u2019s New Member Recruitment (NMR), the BINUS English Club (BNEC) hosted a Welcoming Party on October 25, 2024, at BINUS Alam Sutera. The annual NMR opens BNEC\u2019s doors for students that are eager to join a club dedicated to fostering English proficiency, leadership skills, and personal growth. This year\u2019s event embraced the theme \u201cChallenge Your Fears, Go Beyond Extraordinary!\u201d inviting new members on a journey as thrilling as space exploration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

With a cosmic theme, BNEC\u2019s Welcoming Party encouraged members to break past limitations and take on challenges, both in language skills and personal development. Inspired by outer space adventures, BNEC seeks to foster a supportive environment for members to grow both in their personal and professional abilities. The theme encouraged members to view their time with us as an adventure, complete with excitement, camaraderie, and also a valuable self-discovery. This Welcoming Party offered 3 team-based games: \u201cDecipher the Code\u201d, \u201cShooting Stars\u201d, and \u201cCosmic Charades\u201d. New members were split into teams, each named after planets, with teams names like Earth, Mars, and Jupiter adding a cosmic feel to the afternoon\u2019s event.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In \u201cDecipher the Code\u201d, members tackled a series of puzzles requiring quick thinking and collaborative problem-solving. Each team worked to crack a sequence of codes within a set time, mirroring the value of strategic thinking, persistence, and also teamwork skills essential in both learning English and facing new challenges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The second game \u201cShooting Stars\u201d brought a playful twist to the activities. Participants aimed to throw ping-pong balls as \u201cstars\u201d into a cup, symbolizing the pursuit of dreams. This game showcased agility and persistence, with each team working together to earn points as they aimed for the goal. The game energized everyone, fostering a sense of teamwork and fun as members cheered each other on.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCosmic Charades\u201d followed, testing members\u2019 ability to convey meaning without words, a key skill in language acquisition. Team members acted out clues related to space and astronomy while their teammate guessed. Laughter and enthusiastic applause filled the air, allowing new members to build bonds through the shared challenge of nonverbal communication, highlighting the importance of teamwork and expression.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of the games, 3 teams emerged victorious: Earth, Jupiter, and Saturn. These winning teams were awarded prizes, celebrating their efforts, cooperation, and the spirit of friendly competition. The event provided an avenue for all new members to connect with one another, fostering community and excitement about their journey in BNEC. This year\u2019s Welcoming Party left a lasting impression on all attendees. Through engaging games and a powerful theme, BNEC\u2019s event effectively underscored the importance of courage, teamwork, and ambition. By instilling these values early, BNEC hopes to encourage their new members to push past their boundaries, embrace challenges, and see their journey as one of growth and opportunity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Welcoming Party was not just a fun introduction, it served as a fitting prelude to a year of learning, exploring, and developing within the BNEC community. With a shared sense of adventure and a readiness to face what lies ahead, the newest members of BNEC are primed for more extraordinary experiences.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
