EXPLORING THE LRT JAKARTA

Traffic jams… are a common occurrence in Jakarta, so much sothat 99.9% of people  in Jakarta have experienced them. It is indeed one of the most deep-rooted problems in the city, and the government has implemented numerous policies to try and alleviate it. Some of the measures they have tried include the MRT Jakarta and Mikro Trans transportation through the Jaklingko program. Additionally, they have focused on improving the quality and reach of public transportation in Jakarta, revitalizing sidewalks, providing bicycle lanes, implementing the odd-even system, and, as the subject of today’s article, introducing LRT Jakarta.

LRT Jakarta, or Lintas Raya Terpadu Jakarta, is an integrated railway system operating in DKI Jakarta. It’s a sustainable alternative to traditional transportation options. One of its notable advantages is its ability to efficiently carry a large number of people at once. Additionally, it provides a faster and less frustrating means of commuting, especially during rush hours. Just imagine the amount of time and frustration we can save by using this system, which encourages more people to opt for public transport instead of relying on private vehicles.

LRT Jakarta is still in its early phase, specifically phase 1. Consequently, there aren’t many stations established at this point. Currently, there are a total of 6 stations:

  • Stasiun Pegangsaan Dua Depo Kelapa Gading

  • Stasiun Boulevard Selatan
  • Stasiun Pulomas
  • Stasiun Equestrian
  • Stasiun Velodrome

The average speed of LRT is around 50 km/h and can go up to 90 km/h. A train of the LRT can carry at max 135 people while a train set can carry at max 270 people. Its operational hours are from 05:30 am to 11:00 pm. The price of a one-way ticket is remarkably cheap, at only Rp. 5.000,- .
