What is AIESEC and what does AIESEC stand for?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

AIESEC is a <\/span>global platform<\/span> for young people to <\/span>explore<\/span> and <\/span>develop<\/span> their <\/span>leadership potential<\/span>. AIESEC is also a <\/span>non-governmental<\/span> and <\/span>not-for-profit organization<\/span> entirely run by youth for youth. <\/span>AIESEC (pronounced eye-sek) was originally an acronym for <\/span>Association Internationale des \u00c9tudiants en Sciences \u00c9conomiques et Commerciales<\/span>. <\/span>AIESEC is no longer used as an acronym but simply as the name of the organisation<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

When was AIESEC founded and who can be an AIESECer?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

AIESEC was founded in 1948 after World War II<\/span> by Jean Choplin (France), Bengt Sj\u00f8strand (Sweden), and Dr. Albert Kaltenthaler (Germany). Over 65 years later, AIESEC are present in 126 countries and territories. Now a<\/span>nyone who believes in the AIESEC vision, supports the mission of AIESEC, and lives by the AIESEC values<\/span> is a part of the youth leadership movement, and hence is an AIESECer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Vision & Mission<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

We <\/span>strive<\/span> to build a world where people can work towards their own <\/span>understanding of \u2018peace\u2019<\/span> while acknowledging and <\/span>respecting <\/span>the views of <\/span>others<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

We develop <\/span>youth leadership<\/span> through learning from <\/span>practical experiences<\/span> in <\/span>challenging environments<\/span>. To do so, we facilitate cross-cultural exchange and create opportunities in <\/span>membership roles<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

How does AIESEC work?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

1. We are run by youth, for youth.<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n

AIESEC<\/span><\/em> is 100% run by youth, from their local committees in campuses to the international level. This shows how AIESEC believes that the youth truly are the key in shaping a better future.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Design your own journey!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

All your decisions are your responsibility\u2014AIESEC is merely a facilitator. This is why by joining AIESEC you will understand and know yourself more.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. We do leadership development<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

In AIESEC, you will be shaped to become a leader. Not always and only through exchanges, but also through working as a team with other people.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Unlimited learning space<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

AIESEC is like a supermarket\u2014everything you’re looking for exists within it. You can take any opportunities you want without fearing you’ll fail.<\/span><\/p>\n
